Team Formation

Starting in Week 10, you will work in teams of 4 on the CookYourBooks GUI project. Each team member will own one of four core features while collaborating on shared infrastructure and additional features.

To help us form balanced teams with compatible schedules, please complete the Team Formation Survey by the deadline. We use a hybrid approach: you can indicate who you'd like to work with, and we'll do our best to honor those preferences while ensuring every team has a good mix of skills and availability.

What Happens Next

After the survey closes, instructors will form teams based on:

  1. Mutual preferences — If you and another student both list each other, we prioritize keeping you together
  2. Schedule compatibility — Teams need overlapping availability for meetings
  3. Skill diversity — We aim for a mix of experience levels on each team
  4. Confidential exclusions — We honor all "avoid" requests without question

Teams will be announced after spring break. Once teams are formed, you'll meet to create your Team Charter.
